Healthy Chinese Recipes: Orange Chicken Minus the Fat
Healthy Chinese Recipes – Use Egg Whites and Healthful Ingredients
You want to ensure you make the pan nice and HOT for this
healthy chicken recipe
– you’ll use salt and pepper, Low-sodium chicken broth, cornstarch, and CHICKEN TENDERLOIN. There are more ingredients as well – here’s a rundown on what goes in the sauce:
2 Tbsp Low-sodium Soy sauce
3/4 Cup of Chicken broth
1 Tbsp Rice Vinegar
Hot Pepper flakes (a pinch)
2 Tbsp of Brown Sugar
1 Tbsp Orange zest
1/4 Cup fresh-squeezed orange juice
2 Garlic Cloves
1 Tbsp Cornstarch mixed with 2 Tbsp Water
For the orange chicken marinade, combine the chicken broth, 1 Tbsp of rice vinegar, 1 Tbsp orange zest, 1/4 Cup fresh-squeezed O.J., 2 Tbsp brown sugar, garlic, and 1 Tbsp of cornstarch combined w/ 2 Tbsp water.
You can now coat the chicken tenderloin with the egg whites, and put a pinch of red pepper flakes (season to taste). You will be using “low-sodium” soy sauce when you fry the meat (plus olive oil) – make sure you use HIGH heat !
Healthy Additions: Here’s a Tip
In this recipe, you’re going for something healthier – which is why instead of using orange marmalade, you’ll employ fresh-squeezed orange Juice – you know, the kind from squeezing an orange.
Tip: For frying up the chicken in this healthy chinese recipe you could use EITHER olive or Walnut oil
